Info on Specific Races
10 Dog Pro Class Race - 130 Mile Course
Minimum of 8 (maximum of 10) dogs required at the start and a
minimum of 5 dogs at the finish.
Purse (proposed) $6000 USD.
Check-in/registration and vet checks - Friday, January 9th: 12 noon-9
pm at White Oak Society building. Vet checks will be on Friday only. The
White Oak Fur Post is located 1 mile north of Deer River, MN, on
State Highway 6.
Musher Meeting Friday, January 9th at 7:00 pm in Deer River. Meeting is mandatory.
9:00-10:00 am, Saturday, January 10th - musher staging at Deer River, MN.
12:00 pm, Noon, race start. 2 minute intervals. Class follows 6-Dog racers, so time is approximate.
Race course is approx 130 miles total: Race 60 miles to Northome, MN. Then race 48 miles to the checkpoint in Effie, MN. You will need to take your 6 hours mandated rest between these 2 checkpoints. Then race 8 miles thru Bigfork, MN and go 12 miles to the finish in Marcell, MN. 1 bale of straw provided. Water will be
available.
Be at the Marcell Community
Center , 12:00 noon, Sunday, January 11, 2009 for the awards ceremony. Must be
present to accept your prizes!
8 Dog Pro Class Race - 60 Mile Course

Purse (proposed) $3750 USD. Northome will be awarding $1000 in additional prizes distributed to racers based on ____???? They'll let us know soon. Stay tuned!

Mandatory musher meeting is 7:00 pm, Friday at the King School in Deer River.

9:00-10:00 am - musher staging at White Oak Fur Post, Deer River, MN.
11:00 am - race start. 2 minute intervals.The start will immediately follow the Rec Class; time is "approximate".
Race course is 60 miles (approx) from Deer River to Northome, no mandatory rest.
Sunday, January 11, 2009 is the Awards ceremony - 12:00 noon in Marcell. Must be present to accept your prize.
Trophy Class Race - 38 Mile Course, 4-6 dogs, AKA "Bob Lundeen Memorial Race"
Minimum of 4 (maximum of 6) dogs required at the start and a
minimum of 4 dogs at the finish
Purse - trophies will be awarded to the top finishers

10:00 - race starts. 2 minute intervals. This is the first class to GO.
Race course is start in Deer River, run to Gosh Dam Place 18 miles to your 2 hour rest area. Mandatory rest is two (2) hours plus time differential. After rest, race 20 miles to Squaw Lake, MN.
Awards Evening, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Squaw Lake Community Center. Must be present to accept your prize.
Recreational Class Race - 18 Mile Course, 4-6
